Warehouse Stock Tracking
Tracking stock of Pallets
Warehouse Stock Tracking is simple to operate and yet provides substantial benefits. Every time a pallet is produced, a barcoded ticket is printed which is stuck onto the pallet. Thus a complete and accurate stock record is maintained at all times and details of all deliveries are logged.
Before a packing run starts, the operator enters details of the run. Details include the product code and pallet type. The pallet type defines the bag size, bags per case and number of cases per pallet. Whenever a pallet is produced, a self-adhesive ticket is printed which includes details of the product, pallet expiry date and this also includes the barcode. A new ticket can be produced when the operator presses a button or automatically when a pallet passes a photo-sensor. The operator sticks the ticket onto the side of the pallet and stores the pallet in the warehouse.

When a truck arrives to collect a delivery, a wireless Hand Held PDA is used by the forklift truck (FLT) driver. After entering the customer code, the FLT driver wands the barcode on the pallet and either confirms the whole pallet is to be shipped or enters the number of cases/bags shipped. This is repeated for all pallets.
When the load is complete, the FLT driver clicks on the complete button on the PDA screen. The Hand Held PDA uses wireless Ethernet ‘Wi-Fi’ and so the unit can be used anywhere in and around the warehouse, always being on-line. Codes and stock levels are instantly checked, preventing incorrect operation such as shipping pallets which are not in stock.
Reports, printouts, queries and recalls
A variety of reports and printouts are available as standard. All reports are produced using the Crystal Reports package and so you can change these reports and add new ones. All reports give you fast up-to-date values.
Standard reports include:-
· Current warehouse stock.
· Details of all deliveries between date/time and date/time.
· All deliveries where a particular production run (lot) went to.
· Production between date/time and date/time.
· All deliveries to a particular customer.
· Audit of all operator actions.
Long term logging
All records are held indefinitely on-line, as even the smallest disks today have plenty of capacity. This ability to store data long term may even be a legal requirement and warehouse stock tracking makes this easy and economical to do.
Integration
DSL’s warehouse stock tracking system has the flexibility to integrate with any other computer systems. Data can be exchanged in a variety of ways including CSV files. Integrating in this way to your sales ordering or accounts system provides further efficiency gains and eliminates re-keying errors.
