December 2019 newsletter

Season’s greetings from all of us at DSL Systems; we wish you an enjoyable break and a prosperous 2020.

Holidays over the Christmas period

Please note that our office will be closed for the Christmas period from 12:00 on Tuesday 24th December 2019.  We will re-open on Thursday 2nd January 2020.

If you have a software maintenance contract or your system is currently under warranty, the out of hours support number will continue to operate normally over this period (except Christmas day) for urgent software issues only. We would be grateful if non-urgent matters could wait until 2nd January.

On-line training videos

DSL Systems have released several on-line training videos covering a variety of topics on the AutoPilot4Feed software including cross contamination, the menu and user system, Assets4Feed and weigher filtering. These can be found on our web site using the following link; https://www.dsl-systems.com/training-videos/. We plan to expand the range of topics, so look out for further announcements.

Charity support

This Christmas, DSL Systems have continued their support for Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Arnold Foodbank with donations made to each cause.

DSL’s teams expand in 2019

DSL Systems have welcomed 4 new members of staff during 2019. Matthew Flood joined us in March coming from a pet food manufacturer where he had experience of using DSL’s AutoPilot4Feed as an electrical maintenance engineer. He has joined our Belvoir team led by Paul Colman as a Controls Engineer and has already helped on several successful installations. This appointment was quickly followed by Donatien Tcheuni who joined our Sherwood team as a graduate Controls Engineer with an MSc in Control and Systems Engineering. In August, we recruited Daniel Pain to our software development Wollaton team led by Tim Evans. Dan’s focus is developing our web-based software which is seen as an important part of our software evolution. James Cryer joined us in September as an apprentice Controls Engineer. James is studying Electrical / Electronic engineering at Nottingham College one day a week and receives his work-based experience at DSL.

New developments

We have continued to make many innovative new developments to the AutoPilot4Feed software. To keep our clients abreast of our latest software features we have introduced a new “What’s new” section to our web site. Please use the following links to view what is new in our latest version 9 of AutoPilot4Feed; https://www.dsl-systems.com/whats-new-in-autopilot4feed-version-9/. You can also view the features that were added to version 8; https://www.dsl-systems.com/whats-new-in-autopilot4feed-version-8/. If you would like to consider an upgrade from an older version of AutoPilot4Feed or from a competitor system, we would be happy to visit you to discuss your requirements. Please contact Matthew Swallow (matthewswallow@dsl-systems.com or +44 (0) 7801192565) to arrange a visit.

We are already planning new developments for next year which includes a new web based Assets4Feed maintenance planning software with job scheduling facility.

Rugged tablet

Zebra have released a new generation of rugged tablets, XPAD L10, that we have now standardised on. An L10 tablet with AutoPilot4Feed installed allows operators and maintenance staff to work without being tied to a workstation. The tablet can also be linked via Bluetooth to a laser distance meter to record bin dips in real-time, calculating the stock from density and bin configuration. Maintenance staff find the ease of overriding equipment particularly useful. DSL Systems are an official Zebra partner which provides technical support and product information for all Zebra devices.

Help desk

We have continued to expand the functionality of our on-line help desk. The help desk now records every support call, fault and software change made to all our AutoPilot4Feed installations. We can provide access to the help desk for our customers which gives you a complete history of your system and any issues can be tracked to follow progress. If you would like access to the on-line help desk, please contact Matthew Swallow (matthewswallow@dsl-systems.com).
