Control Engineer

What you’ll do

Working mainly at DSL’s head office, Control Engineers are involved in the whole project life cycle; designing, configuring and commissioning projects across our wide and growing customer base. You’ll use their in house developed SCADA software to provide efficient plant automation. When systems are fully prepared you will commission and install them on site, occasionally at weekends. Work at customer’s sites will be mostly UK based with occasional overseas travel. Joining an environment of innovation, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn, develop and make a real contribution. Full training on the company’s products and process will be provided.

What you’ll need

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with PLCs/SCADA in a factory environment. You’ll have an interest in problem solving and a conscientious and resourceful approach. You must also have a strong customer focus and good communication skills. A full driving licence will be required to travel to customer sites.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • PLC programming ability
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of Windows Server and PCs

Experience and knowledge in the following would also be an advantage:

  • Electrical engineering experience
  • Materials handling processes particularly in the feed and grain sector
  • Ethernet networking
  • SQL Server database

Control System Support Engineer

Up to £35,000 DOE Plus Bonus Scheme, Pension Scheme and Health Care

What you’ll do

Working from DSL’s head office, as a Support Engineer, you will be responsible for first line response to support calls from DSL’s clients in the UK and overseas. Liaising with customers, you’ll provide exceptional level of support and valuable training to ensure that any issues are resolved promptly and effectively. You will be expected to diagnose software issues and fix if possible. Otherwise, you will escalate the support issue to the next level response. Other support issues may involve advising the caller on diagnosing the nature of their issue which could be mechanical or electrical. When not dealing with support issues you will be expected to assist with the configuration of new control projects to help develop your knowledge and experience of the AutoPilot4Feed system. The position will eventually involve joining the rota for out of office hours’ support. A company mobile phone and laptop will be provided for this purpose.

What you’ll need

This is the ideal role for a candidate with experience as a technician or advanced operator in a feed mill or similar factory environment. You will have a broad field of knowledge around these systems and a track-record for fault-finding and problem solving. A desire to learn and develop your expertise is essential.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Experience of process control systems in a factory environment
  • A logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills

Experience and knowledge in the following would also be an advantage:

  • DSL’s AutoPilot4Feed software
  • Animal feed mills
  • PLCs, SCADA systems and electrical panels
  • Knowledge of Windows OS and networking
